How surgery gets scheduled
Dr. Rodriguez and Jessica perform minimally invasive and robotic surgery almost every Tuesday and Wednesday. Depending on how busy things are, additional surgery sessions may be added on a Monday or Friday afternoon. Once everything needed before surgery is complete — imaging, and any clearance needed from other specialists like cardiology or pulmonology — Christine will call you to talk through dates.
As a general rule, cases are scheduled from shortest to longest duration. It's common for your exact case time to shift after it's first scheduled, even though the date stays the same. Don't be alarmed if you get a message that your time has been adjusted — that's normal.
Christine will call you the day before your surgery to go over your arrival time. Dr. Rodriguez likes patients to arrive 3 hours before their scheduled procedure. Some days run ahead of schedule, so arriving early genuinely helps keep things moving.
Insurance
Insurance pre-authorizations and approvals for your procedure are handled by Christine. If you have questions about your coverage, call (817) 250-7030 and ask for her.
Pre-Assessment Testing (PAT)
A few days before your surgery, the anesthesia team will do a pre-assessment to make sure you're optimized for your procedure. Depending on your situation, this appointment may be virtual. You'll learn exactly when to stop eating and drinking, and which of your usual medications to take the morning of surgery.
